DeMolay Sandspit Nature Preserve
Fox Island DeMolay Sandspit (3.56 acres, 55 Bella Bella Drive, NE tip of Fox Island). PenMet Parks purchased this property in 2010. The park will be managed to preserve natural features and host selective activities.
Peninsula Gardens (10 acres, 5003 Wollochet Dr and Filmore Dr. NW) was acquired in 2010.
The site hosts the Gig Harbor Farmers Market on Saturday’s beginning in April. The site also includes potential gardening and play areas, indoor greenhouse area, community meeting space, district offices. Currently in the conceptual planning phase.
This property provides separate off-leash areas for large and small dogs. The property was acquired to provide a trailhead to improve the connection between the Cushman Trail on the Gig Harbor Peninsula and the Scott Pierson Trail which crosses the Tacoma Narrows Bridge from Tacoma.
Cedrona Bay Boat Launch
Cedrona Bay or 13th Ave boat launch (0.3 acres, 13th Ave & Leschi Drive, FI) was acquired from Pierce County in 2010. The site is a water access street end used for launching boats at higher tides.
Kopachuck Heights (18 acres, 56th St NW beside Voyager School) was acquired by PenMet Parks in 2007 as part of the Common School Forest Land Transfer Program. The site is presently undeveloped.
Wollochet Bay Estuary
Wollochet Bay Estuary Park (20 acres in 10 parcels, Wollochet Dr & Artondale Dr NW) has been acquired in pieces since 2000. Recently, an RCO grant was awarded in the amount of $369,350 to help acquire the latest 3 parcels. Conceptual planning for the park was completed in 2008.
